Thanks for the reply. The difference with the slips is that you can get several at a time from one performer, or even a multitude from one table. I find that using excel (or pen and paper) means that the list is formed by the requests, not by the host. Only allowing one request at a time saves having a bias towards or away from some singers. I have always found that the venues i have been to with request slips (and more so those with one host) usually have a jumble of request slips they are trying to sort. The other plus is: No pens pencils or request slips required! Just put out your request books, grab a couple of regulars to start the night and the show does the rest. And there is the bonus of meeting each requestor face to face. I find it helps build a quick repore with new people. I do not have my own business as a host, Rather i am employed by the Robin Hood Hotel in Ballarat as a full time host. Thanks again.

Many thanks, and I've connected you to the venue in the database. Indeed, I agree that a host who is using request slips has to be very organised, and that a much simpler way is to use a spreadsheet or simple paper list. I've found several venues in my travels that don't alow a singer to put down a second song until the first has been sung, and I think this is a very fair and organised way to do it, as it automatically avoids the host being able to give singers an unfair number of songs. I particuarly like your comment that your method gives you better interaction with the host.
