| From the Where2sing.com forum: Shazzy Deal: Well, I have previously mentioned the 'Vic on the Park Songwriter nights' that are held each Tuesday night and usually treat you to 10 great performers for only $5 on the door. I have strongly hinted to some people this is an avenue they should try as I think they'd do really well.
The tricky thing however is that singing in a band is a different kettle of fish from singing solo. You need to be able to harmonise and dance around each other vocally and have an ability to play an instrument. You usually find that avoiding 'Idol momments' is a darn good idea as a strong consistant performance with the melody merging with the vocals (rather than been drowned out) is aurally more satisfying.
I've noticed that some people tend to be more suited to working in a band than solo so its something to consider as an alternative to the solo singer competition route.
