From the Where2sing.com forum:

James T - I did a history of karaoke paper for the Web but haven't got around to posting it on my site due to ill health etc. Betty Boop's follow the bouncing ball was one of the forerunners of karaoke.

Barri Tone - re sound levels: karaoke owes a lot of its success to the sound problems of live bands. Because all karaoke sound comes off one mixing desk & a couple of speakers, it's totally scaleable and controllable. It need be no louder than a hifi to be louder than an acoustic muso. We should be capitalizing on that advantage rather than following live bands, screaming down the plughole.

Johnny B re bad singers issue - I agree that a bit of bad singing is irrelevant. Many of us attend with shot voices on a given night (like me, tonight). We're not paid, so live with it. It's still a nice night out. Rather, I was talking about saboteurs. I note that the unnamed offender did not reappear last week. Wonder if the magic of W2S had any influence? Tom
